10 Amazing Hairstyles to Try Now

Finding the ideal hairstyle for your face shape can be a challenge, but I am here to help!

After many attempts at finding the right look for myself, I think I have officially mastered everything you need to know about the current trends. When searching for a new look, prioritizing versatility and confidence is key.

I threw together some of my favorite ideas for how to style your hair in a way that combines both comfort and fashion.

I hope this inspires you to book that salon appointment ASAP.

1. Bobby Pin Hairstyles

I do not know about you, but I seem to find bobby pins in literally every corner of my house. While they are usually functional for keeping loose hair in place or pumping up volume, people are getting seriously creative with them lately.

To really lean into the trend, use your bobby pins to create designs like triangles and crisscrosses in your hair. Even better: bold statement hair pins are having a major moment right now.

Grab a few and wear them proudly around your hairline for an instantly elevated look.

2. Curtain Bangs and Layers

It is no secret that 70s styles are hugely popular right now. We have seen celebrities like Sophie Turner and Hillary Duff stepping out with full on 70s inspired looks, and the fashion world is absolutely going nuts over it.

One of the top styles to try is a nice curtain bang paired with feathered layers. These should be parted down the middle to frame the face and kept long and thick, but with super textured ends.

Celebrity hairstylist Tabatha Coffey suggests styling this look with a big round brush. She says brushing side to side, then straight down and back gives you a lot of different root direction and movement (source: Rachel Ray).

3. Baby Bangs

Baby bangs, also known as micro fringe or bettie bangs, have been going strong for a few years and only seem to be growing in popularity.

Unlike other bangs that start lower, these are extremely short and should stop before hitting the middle of the forehead.

They look amazing when paired with several other styles and can totally change your overall appearance.

The best part? You can actually do this at home. Harmony Nice demonstrates how easy it is to cut your own with a Creaclip, though be sure to use proper tools if you give it a whirl.

4. Natural Hair Texture

Here is the thing: we are tired of unrealistic expectations regarding looking perfect, building a career, and being a perfect mom.

Nowadays, women are taking a stand to be more loving of our natural features, with celebrities like Alicia Keys and Kesha often seen without makeup.

Girls are really starting to embrace their natural hair texture. Not only does this drastically cut down on heat styling damage, but it also saves so much time.

Plus, that wild look is incredibly trendy right now. Whether you have kinky curly hair or just a little wave, let it be free.

5. Blunt Bobs and Lobs

While various bobs and lobs were a staple of 2000s fashion, this year is all about the short, blunt bob. Score extra points by pairing it with baby bangs for a truly chic look.

Blunt means the perimeter is cut straight across with no elevation, creating a hard weight line that gives the illusion of thicker hair. Avoid layering to maintain that blunt appeal.

My absolute favorite way to style a bob is to use a hot air brush. It creates volume and smooths the hair for a salon quality blowout at home.

Just note that if you have shorter hair, the large hot barrel might not be the best option.

6. The Modern Shag

If you cannot get enough of the 70s hair trends, you are in luck because the modern shag is definitely making its rounds. A shag basically means the hair was cut straight up at 180 degrees to create a ton of layers.

While a traditional shag has short crown layers blending into fringier long layers with little weight, the modern shag is slightly different. This variation leaves more bulk in the weight of the hair with layers that are more textured and blended.

7. Top Knots

Gone are the days when messy buns were only acceptable for moms en route to soccer practice. These days, messy buns and top knots are a fan favorite that just keep climbing to new heights.

This year is all about the modern top knot, a sleeker variation of the traditional messy bun.

The fashion industry adaptation leaves soft tendrils falling around the face while the rest sits neatly in the bun. Whatever style you choose, just get that hair up top.

8. Long Airy Layers

When it comes to long layers, less is more right now. Heavy layering can quickly become choppy and unblended, which is no longer the vibe. Instead, trends are gravitating toward long, feathered layers that add bounce without the chopped look.

This is achieved by texturing the ends and using over direction to layer without removing too much bulk.

To take it up a notch, ghost layers (or nonexistent layers) have been increasingly popular.

Stylist Ramòn Garcia claims the technique adds movement and texture while giving the illusion of a one length haircut (source: Allure). It really is the best of both worlds.

9. The Textured Pixie

At the dawn of a women empowered world, girls are feeling compelled to chop their hair as short as possible.

While the short, shaved undercut was a top choice recently thanks to celebrities like Katy Perry and Ruby Rose, short hair is now graduating toward a softer look.

This year, the textured pixie is all the rage. To style this cut, I highly recommend Paul Mitchell Spray Wax. It adds bendable texture perfect for piecing out the ends without making it look greasy.

10. Thick Braids

Braids of all shapes and sizes can be integrated into any hairstyle to instantly add trendiness (hello, Daenerys Targaryen). But if you really want to wow the crowd, opt for a thicker, looser braid to add more volume and texture.

If you really want to take it a step further, you could venture into the world of mohawk and bubble braids. There are so many fun styles you can create with one trendy base style, so get creative.

Final Thoughts

The right hairstyle can truly make or break your whole look. With so many different types of hairstyles out there, it is important to find out what works with your face shape and skin tone.

Now that you have been versed in these hairstyle ideas, you should be well on your way to a happier hair day.
